I'm back from OBS, tired, in a state of physical fatigue and exhaustion, not to mention the lack of sleep and rest. OBS SUCKED just as was predicted. Well at least for the first 2 days it did. The latter days were much better and had fun instilled in them. Actually had in mind to detail on about all 5 days but, HECK. I'm too lazy for those kinda stuff. So this is just a brief run through.

The first two days were as if there was a time lapse, a rip in the time-space continuum or something. It was so boringly boring and i was in the all-ready-to-swim-back-to-good-old-Singapore kinda mood. In fact, i schemed along with Shawn Elijah on an escape plan to get out of Ubin. Many ideals were put together and conversations of signing out were exchanged whenever i met Joel&Co.

The 3rd day was the day of the Land Expenditure. Left off for the the first event, a crawl in a man-made tunnel to "retrieve an endangered species of animal. Another is an activity to carry a weight of 10 water bottles over a log obstacle course. Both were really fun and helped bonded the group a whole lot closer. Then the excruciating torturous hiking began. The heavy bag pack and not to mention a made-shift stretcher we came up with to help assist with the many tents and mats. The long walk, hot sun, bleedy mosquitoes and the weight of the stretcher caused me to sprain my right shoulder. Dang.

The 4th however, was just plain fun! From where we hiked to from the day before, we set off early in the morning in our kayaks to row all around Pulau Ubin. Partner up with Isaac and we were 'Imbalanced' team according to Hakim and Dan. But hey we both were injured okay. So we stormed the Seven Seas for 7 nights and days, fine maybe only 7 hours, and suddenly, we paddled into SpongeBob Squarepants! No that didn't happen but we did encounter a number of jellyfishes, and there was this huge one which i thought was a large piece of plastic bag floating under the water. So we paddled through the choppy waters(a storm was brewing) and finally reached our camp site all cooked and burnt.

Day 5 was the superly emotionally challenged day. It was the end of OBS and the group got really bonded and stuff even though we got scolded last night for not pitching our tents, but still, we had somewhat a bond. We had a last activity some Commit___(i forgot what it was called but it started with a 'commit') and we were asked to reflect on each day, starting from day 1 till 5. It was touching and i swore there was this huge sand fly which got caught in my eye. Anyways, done and done and got backed to good old Singapore, where the polluted air tasted so damned good and i got drunked on soya bean, of which i went without for a whole 5 days, and where the Sun felt normal. Oh wait. Ubin and Singapore shares the same sun.

On a whole, i rate the camp a 3.5 out of 5. It has certainly thought me lessons in life. Like how to scheme and plan an fail-proof escape route out of an island, and it surely improved my reaction time killing all those pesky mosquitoes. But it surely did make me think and reflect on life, on who i am. And i really really miss my group and instructor Alex. Go Ra..whatever my group's name is! =)

*Note the timing and date of this post has been genetically modified to make it as if it was just the day i got backed from OBS.

Cheers!
